SnapTale ("we", "our", "the app") is an Android app that turns your photos into short stories using an AI model that runs entirely on your device. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is protected.
Photos you capture in SnapTale are never uploaded to any server. All AI story generation happens locally on your device using a downloaded model. Your photos are only stored in the app's private storage on your phone and are never shared with us or any third party.
We use Firebase Authentication with Google Sign-In. When you sign in we store the following in our Firebase database:
This data is used solely to identify your account and to enforce the AI usage consent requirement. We do not sell, share, or use this data for advertising.
The first time you use SnapTale, the app downloads a ~3.6 GB AI model to your device. This download is authenticated using your account token to prevent abuse. The model file is stored in your device's private app storage and is never uploaded or shared.
Stories generated by the app are stored locally on your device only. We do not receive, store, or have access to any stories you create.
We use the following third-party services:
These services have their own privacy policies. Firebase and Firestore are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
SnapTale is designed for use by children with parental guidance. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without parental consent. The app is intended to be set up by a parent or guardian who signs in with their own Google account.
Your account data in Firebase (name, email, consent record) is retained as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time directly inside the app: tap your profile icon, then tap Delete account. This immediately removes your Firebase Authentication account and all associated Firestore data. See the account deletion page for full instructions. If you are unable to access the app, email us at the address below and we will complete deletion within 30 days.
All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Firestore access is restricted so only you can read or write your own data. No AI inference data ever leaves your device.
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
SnapTale uses Google's Gemma model for on-device story generation. Use of the model is subject to Google's Gemma Terms of Use. You agree not to use the app to generate harmful, illegal, or inappropriate content.
